Often we give
explanations on our failures that we were not so lucky to have enough resources
to achieve success, and Mr so and so were far luckier to have it easily. But
friends being lucky, fortunate or resourceful have a very little role in tasting
the fruits of achievements. There are millions and zillions of examples where
people were less resourceful yet they succeed in setting new standards in their
particular field. Let me illustrate it with one comparison between two former
prime ministers of India Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru and Lal Bhadur Shastri.
Pt. Nehru grew up in a privileged atmosphere of wealthy home. He
availed the advantage of private tutors at his home. As we all know he was
graduated from Cambridge University, but there is one fact some of you may not
be aware of, when he was pursuing his graduation at Cambridge, on every gate of the
university there was a car waiting for him as he might come out of any of the
gate. Yes friends he was that much privileged. Once he himself described his
childhood as “sheltered and uneventful”.
On
the other hand Lal Bhadur Shastri led very hard early life. He was a year old
when he lost his father, who was the only earning member of the family at that
time. Lal Bhadur Shastri had managed his studies throughout with scholarships. He
had to cross a river to reach his school, and to save the money of boating he
use to cross that river by swimming that too with bare body even in the coldest
of winter and he had to protect his uniform and books as well from getting wet.
Once he shaved his head completely and when his mother cryingly asked for the
reason as it was considered as bad omen in their culture, he calmly replied “Mata
ji, now I can save the money of hair oil even”. And this poor and less
resourceful boy ultimately completed his graduation with first class from Kashi
Vidhyapeeth and was awarded with the title of “Shastri”.
Both
the Prime Ministers had a completely different childhood or resources, yet
later in their lives they both enjoyed the same designation and same powers. So
it is very evident that being resourceful is not the essential element of
success. Resources can be generated. Lal Bhadur Shastri was less resourceful
but he took the responsibility of generating the resources of his own. This is
one beautiful thing about life that you can always make it better. You hold the
total responsibility for your life, what you do, how you respond to it. As they
say “If life hands you lemons make lemonade”
Want
to have better job, designation, salary, promotion than learn those extra skills
which are required for it. Prove yourself as an employee who is worth assigning
extra responsibilities. Want to have a happy family life, learn the art of
selfless giving and tolerance. Want to have fit body, follow the healthy regime.
Than success is surely on your way.
Success
never comes with luck it comes with hard work, proper planning and continues efforts.
Strong determination, rock firm will, passion, zeal, desire to be successful
takes you to the heights of achievements.
They
say God has written your destiny, God might have written your destiny but he
never breaks the pen of your fortune. You can always rewrite your destiny with
your own efforts.
Remember
there are always two options either take the charge of your life and make the
change happen, and enjoy prosperity for the rest of your life or take the backseat
and keep on cursing your fortune forever.
Choice
is yours. Choice is always yours.
